Are you a ‘niche collector’, like us? Seriously, we love niches. We first got interested in AdSense niches five years ago, when we accidentally found out that you can make either $0.02 or $2.42 per click. The difference? Topic of your article. So right away, we started wondering – what’s the most profitable Adsene keyword(s) out there? Then we stumbled upon unusual business niches. Then we found out that a lot of people are looking for a good website niche (aka profitable website niches) to start their business. So we decided to start a niche website that covers nothing but profitable (crazy, unusual) niches. If you are a nicheholic, you’ll love NicheGeek.com

Bad Fishing Trip Makes Florida Man Rich

Great business ideas often come from strange places, but no one expects to find one at the bottom of a river. Yet that's what happened to George Goodwin. When he went fishing in shallow Florida riverbeds during the early 1970s, Goodwin often caught more logs than bass. "I used to snag my lures on them," he remembers. Most fishermen would have cursed their luck; Goodwin, now 59, reeled in a multi-million-dollar business instead.

What Goodwin found are known as deadhead logs. In the 1800s loggers felled centuries-old cypress and pine throughout the South for use in construction. They would float the logs downstream to the nearest mill, but often the heaviest logs--those filled with the most resin--sank to the muddy riverbed. At a time when the South was blanketed by tens of millions of acres of untouched forest, it wasn't much of a loss. But today overharvesting has reduced that old-growth forest to just 5,000 to 10,000 acres, most of it protected, and the logs once lost to the rivers have newfound value.

How to Manufacture a Hormone

Have you ever gone to a movie and known how it was going to end after watching the first few minutes? Or a movie where every action can be easily anticipated? These movies tend not to be very enjoyable.

However, the opposite is true when you watch a movie that keeps you in suspense until the very end when it reaches a credible but surprising ending. Any movie that is not predictable is more enjoyable.

What forces in our minds make us perceive one movie as a lot better than another? I have a theory that I strongly believe comes pretty close to the answer: “The more the mind must work to reach a conclusion which it eventually successfully reaches, the more positive, enjoyable, or stimulating the experience.”

Hearing Aids - *** Niche

Hearing aids is another good medical niche, although not extraordinary profitable. I’d say that a well designed, informative website that sells or covers hearing aids is likely average around 30 cents per click, plus or minus five cents. But then again, you might make more money from sales of hearing aids, so it’s up to you.

The attractive thing about hearing aids is the size of the market – several million people in US alone. Another benefit is that people with hearing problems or those who suffer from hearing loss go through several hearing aids pieces over the course of their lives and buy hearing aids parts and hearing aids batteries too.

Patents, Patent Lawyers, Patent Search And All Related - **** Niche

Patent is a word that I grew to love more and more, as I played around with this niche. Patents are expensive. They just are. The reason for that is that you have to hire a patent lawyer in order to file a patent. Patent lawyers are even more expensive than regular ones. (Actually, you don’t really need to hire a patent lawyer, if you know the process well).

Ok, so you have an idea or an invention you want to patent (silly me, ideas can’t be patented). The first thing you have to do is the patent search. Patent search is a process of reviewing all current patents on file, to make sure someone didn’t patent your idea years earlier.

The Most Violated Marketing Rule

I call it the “Pearls On A String” lesson. And it is the single most-violated marketing rule I see among the people who come to me for advice.

Let me use two real-life examples: I have a very bright client I’ll call Dr. R. He had a thriving multi-headed business when he found me... but when he started out all he had was a bitchin’ advertisement and one product that he’d slaved over and developed himself. He went to Jay

Abraham for advice on what to do next for the business. Jay said, “What do you mean ‘next’?

You don’t have a business. You have an ad.”

Two Scopists Find A Way To Turn Court Records To Gold

In 1994, Judy Rakocinski was looking into a home based career as a scopist, a person who edits legal transcripts from home for court reporters. That's how she found Cathy Vickio and contacted her about getting started. They have only met in person once since Judy lives in Florida and Cathy lives in Texas. Regardless, a friendship immediately bloomed and has grown since. Cathy helped Judy start her successful career and they continued to be friends.

After several years, the pair realized that the ratio of scopists to court reporters was about 1,000 to 60,000. It was clear that the need for professionally trained scopists was great and Judy and Cathy decided to develop a training program for that specific purpose. Thus, they began to develop their online business at BestScopingTechniques.com where they offer an online, self-paced course designed to teach people to become professional scopists. They just celebrated their three-year anniversary in business together in March 2006.

PBX and VoIP - **** Niche

PBX is a technical term from telephony and it stands for private branch exchange. VoIP is the name for “voice over the internet protocol”. As I said before, one of the most surprising discoveries for me was that certain acronyms (like PBX and VoIP) can make an obscene amount of money for you.

Telephony, especially corporate phone systems is an extremely profitable niche for PBX manufacturers and installation companies. They can make hundreds of thousands just from a single building. Recently, telephony software called Asterisk was released. It’s completely open source and entirely replaces phone switchers and PBX, saving a boatload of money. At least, that’s what I got from reading technical articles about Asterisk.

Dog Training - *** Niche

Dog training is a niche that I discovered from Google’s official AdSense blog. Dog training, as far as I know, is the only pet niche that consistently pays over 30 cents a click. I guess this is due to the fact that there are a number of dog training ebooks, dog training videos and dog training schools that are all chasing the same audience – dog owners.

Dog training ain’t cheap, that’s for sure. If you hire a dog training instructor (a dog trainer that is), he or she will charge you 80 bucks per session and you’ll need 5-10 sessions to complete the entire dog obedience training course.
